Hi,
First, I want to congratulate you - Mandrake staff -
for this first beta. It installed very well.
and X (3.3.6) configured nicelly at the setup step. Thus Tom, I had no
such problems
regarding X.
Some points:
- As usual ( from 7.1 ) USB mouse is bumped out when PCI devices
probing...And
the rest of installation must be completed without the mouse.
I am not used with KDE2,Linux configuration files , etc.. but this
installation of KDE2 is simply
unusable. KDE2 starts nicelly and applets appears on the panel
but it seems that those applets on the panel are frozen - no gui
interraction there.
And when I start any KDE2 apps, they doesn't show and disappear (from
the task bar), including konqueror...
my ~/.xsession-errors or stderr has no error or crash reports about
that.
But when I start those apps from other WM (let say gnome), the KDE2 apps
start normally though...uh ?
I tried KDE2 as root and normal user - unsuccesful.
Any ideas ?
- For the rest of 7.2 stuff, I still have to play around.
I have two network cards ( eth0 and eth1) eth0 awakes with dhcpcd
(cablemodem)and eth1 for my private network.
I did not yet dig into the initscripts. eth0's hostname is "default"
instead of the one given by dhcpcd.
Finally, this first 7.2 beta is almost ( for me ) perfect. Very
promising.
Keep up the great work!
regards,
