I've written a perl script called rpmcheck which will compare your
locally installed rpms to a local mirror directory (or nfs). It
doesn't check over FTP (yet), so it's not useful to everyone, but some
people may appreciate the script. It can tell you what rpms need to
be upgraded to the current version in the mirror, or what new rpms
exist that you do not have installed. It prompts you to
freshen/install depending on the mode you choose.

This was a pretty quick hack-job, and still needs some prettying up,
but I thought that since many people mirror cooker, this might be a
helpful little tool to help you keep your system synchronized with
your mirror without using tools like autorpm, etc. It's
interactive-only (currently), and only works when run as root, so it
still gives you complete control of your system.

You can download it from
ftp.freezer-burn.org/pub/custom/rpmcheck/rpmcheck-1.1.tar.bz2. It's
only 1.6K, so it's pretty small and very fast.

I'd be interested in any feedback anyone may have. It's not nicely
packaged either, just the script, so no readme's or anything like
that. Instructions on how to use it are in the script itself.
