Ok, after lots of testing. I have my USB mouse and USB keyboard plugged
into a IOGEAR USB KVM which is also a 4 port USB hub. This is the same hub
I was testing with before the 7.2 beta release, and i think it might be a
2.2.17 kernel problem.

When the mouse and keyboard are plugged directly into the computer they work
fine.

The ports on the USB hub are aranged like this.

A B
C D

If I have both the mouse and the keyboard pluged in, whichever device is
plugged into port B works. If I unplug either the keyboard or the mouse,
the other device works in any port.

I am going to do some more testing, but as USB is a daisy chain technology,
all devices should work in any port. Something is messed up in the hub
detection code.

This is probably a kernel problem, if you think I should, I will forward
this error on to lkml.

Thanks.
