by happy coincidence i have same chip in a similar card (Ensoniq
SoundScape, a close relative to the SB16) and am listening to it now..
relevant info from my conf.modules mdk 7.1, 2.2.16 kernel
alias sound sb
pre-install sound /sbin/insmod sound dmabuf=1
alias midi opl3
options opl3 io=0x388
options sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1 mpu_io=0x330
then lsmod -a returns...
Module Size Used By
opl3 11112 1
sb 34484 1
uart401 6128 1 [sb]
sound 58104 0 [opl3 sb uart401]
soundlow 300 0 [sound]
soundcore 2564 7 [sb sound]
i would think you would have most of these present in a working
configuration.
check your module conf compile (cd /usr/src/linux; DISPLAY=:0.0;export
DISPLAY;make xconfig and see if you have all the necessary modules
compiled and avail as modules, i don't remember if they come that way,
and make sure you make modules and make modules_install at least
once if you change anything.
this is user advice typed up in a hurry so YMMV and someone who gets
paid to reply to these feel free to blast it into oblivion if wrong. :)
