a7v motherboard with promise Ultra100 controller (http://forum.mandrakesoft.com/article.php3?sid=20000926042417) MrFatback writes "How can i get my linux Os (Mandrake 7.1) to recognize my Promise Ultra100 disk controller wich is built in my a7v motherboard. I have one 30Gb udma-5 IBM hardisk attached to this controller where i'm runnning windows Os and linux when supported. In the meantime im running linux on 41Gb udma-4 maxtor. I have aquired all the information from windows Os as possible about my so called "SCSI" controller, but i'm rather new to the linux os. If there is anyone out there that has any advice on how to configure this promise controller or suggestion I would be glad to hear them. p.s. Is it possible that udma-5 is supported in next mandrake distribution 7.2 Thanks in advace MrFatback " Answer: AFAIK, you can't. We were happy to get UATA/66 working properly in 7.1, and support for UATA/100 has only been introduced short time ago in cooker, and it is still rather "experimental". That is, with some luck You may be able to install latest 7.2 beta on MB-s with promise 100 controller, but I can not tell you for sure. Try it out.
