My /etc/sysconfig/i18n has the following lines:

        LC_NUMERIC=pt_BR
        LANG=pt_BR
        LC_COLLATE=pt_BR
        LC_CTYPE=pt_BR
        LANGUAGE=pt_BR:pt_PT:pt
        RPM_INSTALL_LANG=pt_BR:pt_PT:pt
        LC_MESSAGES=pt_BR
        LC_MONETARY=pt_BR
        LC_TIME=pt_BR

Maybe this help you too, the contents of  /etc/sysconfig/keyboard:
        
        BACKSPACE=Delete
        KEYTABLE=us-latin1

Yeah, I have already figured it out. But I also foresee a lot of people 
complaining about it. What a mess...
