Guys, I guess this is somethign serious.. I have 100Mb left.. but rpm, cron jobs that run at night etc. cannot write to my / partition!! As I have emailed here before, every morning I have cron jobs running!! I have to kill them manually every morning!!! It all started when my disk was full.. After that I have made space but the problem persists.. The bottom line is that Mandrake dosn't seem to tackle the "disk full" scenario.. Here are some pointers so that you guys can help... 1. Check the size of mail and news directory under /var drw------- 3 root root 5042176 Sep 26 15:25 news/ drw------- 2 root root 8466432 Sep 27 10:05 mail/ 2. I have these entries repeating all the time in /var/log/messages Sep 26 10:11:00 vx15 inetd[457]: /usr/sbin/nmbd: exit status 0x1 Sep 26 10:11:01 vx15 last message repeated 38 times Sep 26 10:11:01 vx15 inetd[457]: netbios-ns/udp server failing (looping), service terminated 3. I also have infinite syslogd entries in /var/log/messages... I have to kill syslogd and others (slocate etc) every morning! Sep 26 09:42:53 vx15 syslogd 1.3-3: restart. 4. When I try to same any file under /etc or /var.. I can't save it.. Vi tells me "can't open file for writing".. Meaning I dont' have write access.. My guess is that something has set some lock which is prohibiting me from accessing something! Please help... thanks a lot! sarang
