After a tough battle, I located the origin of the memory leak:
gdk_font_unref is bugged when used on a GdkFont created by
gdk_fontset_load when one uses the X libraries of XFree-4.x
Fortunately, the fix was actually simple when one knows that xmms reloads
the font each time it wants to display the playlist -- now I use a static
font, and the reload occurs only when the font has to change. (thanks to
pixel for the idea..)
I made a xmms-1.2.3-4mdk that will go to frozen when one "admin" of the
distrib comes here, so if someone wants to try it now, you can reach it
