HI,

1)You need to known which alsa-driver your soundcard
uses... (you didn't mensioned your card name -
*chipset*)

-For this, read the INSTALL file in the driver
package.

2)About the /proc system, this is only created when
you load the alsa drivers, e.g.:

~#/sbin/modprobe -a snd-card-sb16

~#cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [card1 : SB16 - Sound Blaster 16
                    Sound Blaster 16 at 0x220, irq 5,
dma 1&5

-This is a example only! (for SB16 card)

3)Please, read the intructions in the README and
INSTALL files.

OBS: for the alsa mixer (amixer, alsamixer, etc. ou
native app), is necessary have installed the alsa-lib
and alsa-utils packages. But you can use anything like
kmixer through the OSS/Free emutation.

-Any troble with the configuration, send again a email
to the list.

s,
roberto
