O.K. - I have a D-Link 56k external on ttyS1 - vt3 shows modem is found & identified as 56k, but when the "try to connect" dialog comes up, no LED's flash, & I am dumped to a screen that says re-configure my connection. It works fine with kppp using the settings I enter...... -WBD.
