Hi there,

if you're using the runlevel 3 (launch X with the startx xommand that is),
you have two ways of changing the default WManager.

- use the same WM for all users:
modify the /etc/sysconfig/desktop (put WindowMaker instead of
        GNOME)

each window manager provide a file in /etc/X11/wmsession.d with the right
description.

- create a .xinitrc in your directory and enter a corresponding entry.
in your case simply enter startwindowmaker (one word)

cheers,
