Hello,
Just a couple of thought. Managed to borrow a cable modem
connection this weekend - so I think I'm FINALLY almost on the same
page as everybody. Loaded all the updates over a fresh Beta 3 with
only a few problems - so not too bad.
Seems that I can ftp the updates to disk, then use the disk
as the sourse for Mandrake Update and get much faster results than
if I get the direcory online. Any ideas why this is?
Also seems like Update freezes frequently on busy servers
and doesn't restart - even when left for prolonged periods of time.
Is the program logging out of the server and then unable to get
back in because max users exceded or some such?
When finishing an update or if an update bombs, Update
goes back to the server to update the list of packages. With a
slow connection and/or a busy server, this either bombs with an
error message, takes forever, or hangs. Can the package list be
cached somehow?
