just wondering why there is NO ppp suport in kackkerel?

I just happen to be having a problem with PPP in the 2.4.0test9 kernel
(complained no support for PPP in kenrel when i Comped the thing myself
with PPP/async installed)
is the latest hack based on the test9 base or the even buggier test8?
Want to know who has to die for a straight answer on mapping from
kernel.org to hackkernel versions??
