This is true for many apps:
enlightenment (0.16.4->0.16.5)
gkrellm (0.10.5->1.0)
gnome-libs(1.2.4->1.2.5)
ORBit(O.5.3->0.5.2)
linux-logo(3.05->3.9b1)
etc...
As only bugfixes are allowed, i understand they won't be upgraded for
the 7.2. But will this also apply to KDE2 ? It would be weird to release
beta version, when final release is so close.

There are also some major move from commercial to opensource that should
be included in contribs IMHO:
openoffice
netbeans
