Hi

I have two wishes for a coming Mandrake distribution, the closed down
workstation with user started LAN and Internet access and http in
'mirroring'.
1.
My workstation is constantly up to a LAN with hundreds of other
computers into LANs that is constantly sharing a router into the
Internet. The ISP provider allows me to shutdown any daemon on my
computer, so it is generally not visible to the others. This might be
added to the installation script, as a closed down workstation.
2.
During the last weeks the traffic was very heavy at ftp.sunet.se, as
reported by 'archie' ftp => 149+ MB/s into a 150 Mb/s line divided by
1000 persons. I could not get into it one day, so I used netscape and
http.
The other day I started to study Debian Potato and used their
installation program apt-get. Thus i got the whole shit entirely from
sunet.se through http and that at a speed of about 150 kB/s. Please
notice that this is the same night that ftp.sunet.se was completely full
by people downloading Mandrake iso's.

Is it difficult to add to rsync or fmirror the possibility to choose
either ftp or http.

regards
guran
