It appears that at least glibc 2.1 <= 2.1.3 has a hard limit of 1024
fds in select. This is rather limiting for high-load, single-process
webservers (among other things). I have attached a patch that
increases the fd limit to 8192 (a hard limit sucks, but 8192 is at
least better).
Let me know if you want me to upload a patched SRPM.
