During the bombing raid of Wed, 18 Oct 2000 20:23:07 +0200, somebody
heard allx mumble in fear:
> Netscape works fine on my machine. I have some problems with fonts
> But this is old. Everytime I have updated XFree86-4xx, xfs cannot start. "xfs
>status" reports that the process is dead.
I've had the same problem, tho I install X4.0.1 from source. The
problem *I* have noticed is that the xfs that comes with it doesn't like
the -daemon option that the /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs script calls it
with....so I just call xfs from rc.local with:
/usr/X11R6/bin/xfs -config /etc/X11/fs/config -port -1 &
And that gets over the problem. I hope this helps :)

Kind of like the Amish, except that our religion requires us to use
_higher_ technology than everyone else.
