Maybe try this...
When you have the new version of Mandrake installed (assuming RC1), boot up
into X. Mount your Extensions ISO once you are booted. Open up DrakConf,
and use the "Live update" (hope Symantec doesn't mind Mandrakesoft using
their trademark :-P). Live update allows you to update from directly within
a working Linux installation, rather than using the install CD and choosing
the Update (or Rescue) option. Hope this helps!!
