OK, I know this is cooker for > 7.1 but this problem is probably here
too. This has been repeated several times. The results of each install
is (basically) the same.
When performing a custom install on a blank IDE(ATA/33) drive for a
system that already has (also) a SCSI drive formatted with Fat32 and
NTFS5(Win2k) partitions, the Drakx installer improperly numbers the
partitions. It assigns sda1, sda5, sda6, sda7, sda8 and sda9 to the 6
partions on the SCSI drive. It skips minor(?) numbers 2, 3 and 4. Note
that there are 3 NTFS5 partitons on the drive but they are not
consecutive. The SCSI drive is set up, in order, as : fat32, ntfs5,
fat32, ntfs5, ntfs5, fat32.
Furthermore, (the real problem) when partitioning and formatting the
blank IDE drive, Drakx assigns the partitions without using the minor
numbers 2, 3, and 4; i.e., the first partition gets assigned as hda1 but
the second is hda5, third is hda6, fourth is hda7, and so forth.

Should I say this causes all kinds of access and mounting problems?

I cannot check cooker or 7.2 at this time but I did query the Bugzilla
database. I found no reference to this and therefore concluded that it
still exists.

Need any files? More info?

Have A Great Day!
Regards,
Ric
