Hello Cookers.

I have made a set of patches to esound which makes it dynamically load
the appropriate sound library (plugin if you will) depending on whether
it detects that you are using the ALSA or OSS sound drivers. This
eliminates the need for separate esound packages -- one for OSS and one
for ALSA (without OSS shims).

What is the best way to get this into Cooker? I have submitted the
patch for evaluation to the esound maintainer but he is probably swamped
and has not gotten back to me on it. I think it would be an asset to
cooker in it's support of both OSS and ALSA (natively).

I want to try to find some time to do the same for the Gnome sound mixer
(panel) applet as well as gmix, even though gmix seems to have some kind
of ALSA support in it already. Maybe the patches I made for it a long
time ago are in the Gnome code base.

Comments?
