Did a fresh install of 7.2 on my Toshiba 460CDT laptop.
I chose to install XFree86 4.0.1. It incorrectly identifies the CT65535 video
adapter as a Trident Cyber 9525 (generic). Once I select the correct
chipset, X works fine. In Mandrake 7.1, I chose to install the XFree86 4.0
server and it correctly identified my video chipset.
It appears that the logic to decide how much space you have and how many
packages you can install is very broken. I created a 1GB root (/) partition
to install the OS on. At first I select nearly everything except the
development tools + libraries, but it told me it required 1.3GB of
diskspace. So I decided to just install GNOME and unselect everything else.
I also unselected the "choose specific packages" option so I didn't have to
wade through everything. It *still* told me that the install required
1.3GB, even though only the GNOME suite was selected for install. I was
then given the option to install 72% of the most critical packages, which it
estimated at about 950MB. So I went ahead with the install. However, after
the installation I logged in and did a `df' only to discover that the
install had only used up about 350MB. It appears that it installed what I
told it to, but somehow the installer wasn't calculating the disk
requirements correctly.
Also a minor nit. There are several packages where the word "libraries" is
mispelled as "librairies" (note the extra `i') in the description (as
reported by "rpm -qi").
