The problem is that just making rpm -U rpm-4.0... does not rebuild the database and _relies_ it to unavailable by initializing a new database (from this point, any further rpm --rebuildb will rebuild only the new database). So your recomendation is useless. If you have read carefully the previous post you have noted this. Ektanoor
