Hi,
after downloading the complete distribution of Mandrake 7.2 and creating
the ISO images I got the following error(s) while loading the second stage
ramdisk (copy of screen output of install process):
* mounting ram3 on /tmp/stage2 as type ext2
* creating directory /tmp/stage2 rc = 0
* calling mount(/tmp/ram3, /tmp/stage2, ext2, 1058209792, (nil))
* removing device file /tmp/ram3
* method selection completed
* state saved to /tmp
* symlink /tmp/stage2 failed
* error in exec of second stage loader :-(
* error:Not a directory
After this nothing happens anymore. So, I downloaded the ISO images (maybe
I didn't created the ISO images correctly) but the same error occurs. This
is with the following hardware:
- Pentium II 233, A-Open AX6LC board
- 128 Mb ram
- IDE DVD-Rom (Creative 5x)
- SCSI CD-rewriter (Philips 3600)
- both IDE and SCSI disks
- Matrox Millenium graphics card
The following situations are tried:
- boot from DVD-Rom
- boot from floppydisk and use DVD-Rom for install
- boot from floppydisk and use SCSI-RW for install
Any other combinations I have not tried.
So, is this a known problem, or is there something wrong with my hardware
setup. Any help is appreciated.
