Hi ,
I know that is could be out of topics , but subscribe miself to kde mailing
list will be suicid since I already got 30 mails minutes ...
So I post to the more closest mailling list my suggestion hopes that it will
help....
I'm thinking that the installation process for themes in KDE is quite
disapointing for new users .
telling them go to kde.theme.org search for the themes you want is ok .
but telling them uncompress the theme if it's an old theme convert it copy
to .kde/apps/kstyle/themes/ .... could disapoint them . (for me is ok but....)
I think it could be done easiest by call the themes :themes_names.ktheme
that is really a tar.gz file of a known format with file telling version and
all as it is now....
when kbrower see that we want to download the files give also option to
install ktheme when clicked is copyed to the corect dir and then a dialog
tell if the user want to try it.
when a file of this type is clicked ask fr installation and try .
It will make the stuff simpliest than now ....
another stuff with themes is to put a previews and go/search in kde.theme.org
stuff on the controle panel lokk&feel-> style part .
Hopes it will help to do kde more useable for very new user . (those that ask
me how to questions evry days)
I could give a lot of idea since I helps a lot of friend to pass from the
microsoft world to the linux one ...
Why not do a anti-microsoft dependance hospital ;-) (it's a joke but....)
So thanks ,
