My LM7.2 runs extremely slow when I use KDE. the terminal window takes about

Check you hard disk optimisation, the new autotune parameter does not seem
to work most of the time.

hdparm /dev/hda

If I/O is set to 16 bit, and DMA is off

Try  a
hdparm -c3 -d1 /dev/hda
and see it thing improve.

My HW configuration is P3@580MHz and 128MB RAM and a 7200RPM IDE IBM disk
Matrox g400 32mb (LM only finds 16mb though).
My SW configuration is LM7.2 installed as expert-developper on hda5 with
        240mb swap space

My RAM usage is about 98% and swap usage is about 10%

there is no processes taking all my CPU power.

The problem is the same wether or not I use XFree4.01 or 3.36, and regardless
of screen resolution

I had some minor problems under the instalation of my symbios SCSI card, but
removing this want make a diffrence.

I tried windowmanager, and this completely removed the problem, but I prefer
to use KDE.

Have anyone seen this problem before, and have any ide what it can be?
