I realize that Mandrake is pushing the use of CUPS, and Till works pretty
hard on it. However, some of us would still rather use lpd, which performs
somewhat faster on older machines. While you have retained the lpr package
in the main distro, you have moved printtool to contrib.

The printerdrake utility is capable of handling lpr printers, but doesn't
unless it finds a pre-existing printcap entry. Instead it tries to install
cups and then check the cups printer database. This makes it difficult to
add a printer to a system other than at install time if you don't want to
use CUPS.

In short, I think that either printtool needs to be put back in main, or
printerdrake needs better support for lpd (perhaps before trying to install
cups it should check to see if lpr is installed).
