I must say that LM 7.2 is WONDERFUL, but the numerous changes seem to have
bought many "little" problems. Some of them are:
1) menudrake doesn't change anything on my system, even if I run "update-menu"
2) klyx absolutely is UNUSEFUL. The question: Is there someone that has been
able using that editor creating ANY document? I think that it's a Latex
related problem because when I tried compiling from sources the compilation
stopped for a latex trouble
3) Some applications sometimes work some other times do not work! For
example, at THIS moment I can't open konsole: "impossible to run konsole" is
the sentence. Ten minutes ago (before I restarted the system) I just had 1000
seg. fault when launching gqview, but now it works. The same appen with
KvIRC, with kups, xmms and sometimes with the whole KDE system...
4) In my previous installation I tried RAID 1 for /home. The result was an
absolute HUNG-UP with no reason (my pc is not on a LAN, is an home-pc), in
fact nothing I found in any log (/var/log). Twice I had to leave the pc
turned on for 48 hours rebuilding that raid, and after 3 days another HANG,
maybe I was looking tv (really tv, not with a video-card!), I turned, moved
the mouse and... nothing: only the power button. I have no Micro$oft OS on my
PC, but it's like a window$-behaviuor...
5) Tried vmware-2.0 on that machine. I had to reinstall everything: kde
didn't start anymore, and so other applications. But maybe it's a vmware's
problem...
Some smaller others that I won't report.
On the other side, the positive notes are numerous: cups is GREAT. KDE2 (when
it works) is GREAT. And so on for the new Gimp, for the initial menus, for
the new XcdRoast, for the config. tools etc. etc.
I must say thanks to you for that great solutions, but please try to correct
those problems with the next release. I will use 7.1 for the university's
servers at the moment :(
I hope to be useful for you development work.
