I'm waiting for a functional 4-disk set to be sent to me, once I have those,
I will attempt a reinstall.

Quite so, particularly since MacMillan's 'complete' omitted (as we found
out) the extensions CD, and thus tried to force edited content from the
extensions CD onto the others.

This is primarily a problem with MacMillan, but I'm sure Mandrake created
the disks for them, so it is also Mandrake's issue - overall, though, it
appears to be a marketing issue, and one of having several morons in charge
in that group, apparently.

Well, I downloaded both from the cooker, and while I was able to install
joe, ncftp refuses becauses it complains about libgd.so.1.

Mind you, this was NOT an issue before I applied all updates with
MandrakeUpdate - apparently the upgrades munched libgd.so.1

Any ideas about that?
