Hello everybody!
Taking into consideration the fact that most browsers have incomplete support
for Cascaded Style Sheets, and continueing buzz about "what browser is
better", I decided to put several test cases together on one site and
complement them with current screen snapshots from different operating
systems. As I have only x86-compatible PC in front of me at a moment, I am
not able to put Mac screenshots (will be very grateful, if somebody can take
screenshots for the same tests on Mac, and send to me)
I used several examples which I had for Konqueror testing during last few
months, and will add more when they are ready (down-stripped to a reasonable
size)
So, you can compare rendering examples of
-Konqueror,
-MS IE 5.0,
-Netscape Communicator 4.75 on Linux,
-Netscape Communicator 4.75 on Windows 98,
-Opera 4.02 on Windows 98.
(for rendering on Linux, XF 4.0.1 with TrueType fonts from Win98 was used)
For test/browser which was not able to display something at all, I do not
include screenshot;

Most cases can be treated as "Bug Report" as well.
(only MS IE was able to display everything, but I believe some example with
wrong rendering can be found for it as well)
I don't know where are Bug Report lists for Netscape and Opera, but I send
this mail to KDE-devel with hope that all small outstanding bugs will be
fixed in coming releases. ;-))
I appreciate all comments from you, as well as suggestions for new cases.
To my mind, CSS can do DTP-like page formatting, with right font mapping
mechanism. Unfortunately, there are only few pages at a moment which are 100%
correct (I was not correcting 100 to 100pt or 100px in examples, as it gives
another stress point to browser; and, examples of MS Typography site use px
instead of pt; later is more correct, IMHO, in current diversified world )
P.S.
-Site will not be only CSS-related. Another examples are just not ready
(yet).
-Mozilla examples/snapshots will be added soon. I re-installed my Linux
recently, and don't have Mozilla now.
-Netscape 6 snapshots (Linux) will be added soon as well.
