I know that Cooker is not for general distribution, but I will be shocked if Mandrake-7.3/8.0 is based on gcc-2.96 (IMHO, Red Hat did a disservice to the GCC developers and the Linux community). The GCC developers are planning a gcc-3.0 release for the end of this year and they invite everybody to try their daily snapshots. See http://gcc.gnu.org/gcc-3.0/criteria.html and http://www.codesourcery.com/gcc-snapshots/ for Red Hat RPM's I am in the process of getting their RPM to work and will try it out. Of course, it will very risky for MandrakeSoft to base Cooker on one of those snapshots but ,IMHO, it will great if you do so. Gerard Vermeulen
