Hi all!
Another "little" problem with LM 7.2 :(
With 7.1: I could burn CD while chatting, going thow internet, using gimp,
scanner, compiling programs and something else, like hearing music :))
With 7.2: much often (4 times in 6 cd-copies) I had a cdrecord streaming
error! And twice I was having my dinner, so "top" reported 0% of used CPU
when system HUNG UP!!!! In gnome, I could see (with the cpu/memory usage
applet) the cpu usage going to zero in 2 second, mouse+keyboard no more
alive, just I had to make an hardware RESET :(
In that case I even used a raid 0 for / and a raid 1 for /home. The raid 1
has always been fucked :(
Now I only have raid 0, for I don't want to leave pc powered-on for 2 days in
may bedroom while rebuilding the raid at a RIDICOLOUS SPEED!
So my questions:
1) Why LM 7.0 and 7.1 (kernel 2.2.14 / 2.2.15 / 2.2.16) needed 1 hour to
build a 12 GB raid 1 device, and now 2.2.17 needs about 30 HOURS!!!!!!?????
2) Why LM 7.0 and 7.1 NEVER hunged-up, never an hardware reset in 6 month,
never a stolen CD, and now 7.2 is unable to menage RAID devices, and always
fuck my cd? ;(
3) Sometimes happens that aurora stops the boot-up process with a message
like "Aurora: cannot find default font ----------> OK"... Nothing more.
4) Sometimes happens that the login manager does not show users, I only may
login as user, and "shut down" instead of the 3-4 choices only reports
"halt". It's a mistere to me...
Please, can anyone help me to understand these behaviour???
Is it a problem just for my system or did someone encountered similar
problems?
Many thanks, Claudio
PS) Maybe just a kernel problem, or what else?
PPS) By the way... I've saved the output of cdrecord when it destroyed the
4th cd...
