Cooker Expert Upgrade Development (almost full) - using hd.img.
VERSION: Linux-Mandrake Cooker-i586 20001209 4:01
For the first time the installer offered hardware acceleration using either
xf3 or xf4 for my Matrox G400, so I chose xf4 this time. It was soooo slow
until I added "modprobe agpgart" to rc.local and rc.modules (wasn't sure
which so I added it to both). Now it's OK except for two things...
1. Can't get my Sidewinder 3D Pro joystick working. I noticed that the
module is now called sidewinder instead of joy-sidewinder so I added
"alias char-major-15 sidewinder" to modules.conf and
'Load "xf86Jstk"' to XF86Config-4. /dev/js0 exists but
cat /proc/devices doesn't show any js.
2. Font rendering is horrible. The fonts are all so large. OK, I used KDE's
Control Center to select smaller fonts but that doesn't work globally.
Konqueror and kPackage now have acceptable font sizes in their window
areas, but the menu and toolbars are enormous
