Greetings!

For a while now, whenever I start perl I've been getting the following
messages:

perl: warning: Setting locale failed.
perl: warning: Please check that your locale settings:
        LANGUAGE = (unset),
        LC_ALL = (unset),
        LANG = "(null)"
     are supported and installed on your system.
perl: warning: Falling back to the standard locale ("C").

Under the belief that the problem was caused by an old version of glibc,
i.e. one that didn't support locales, I installed glibc-2.2-21mdk.i586.rpm.

Now when I run rpm, for example "rpm -qa" I get the following message:

/usr/lib/rpm/rpmq: error while loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/rpm/rpmq:
undefined symbol: rpmQVArgs

Does anybody recognize these problems, i.e. the perl messages and the
undefined symbol in rpmq? Can you tell me how to dig myself out of this hole?

Thanks.

David
