If libGL.so.1.2 is deleted gears works with the Mesa-lib but of course 
without hardware acceleration:
Loading compatibility GL library /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2.030400

If this lib is removed, too, I get:
Couldn't open required GL library /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.so.1.2!
Speicherzugriffsfehler  (core dumped)

So this is no solution. It is no problem to start gears (and tuxracer ...) 
with the Mesa-libs, but I get only about 107 FPS. With hardware acceleration 
I got more than 500 FPS.
