Hello All,
I have one mail from user who needs DRI support for ATI Mach64.
He is not developer/programmer, and can't himself compile DRI CVS.
Can somebody give me idea:
1) if ATI Mach64 DRI support from DRI CVS is integrated into current XF
4.0.2-4mdk ?
2) if not - are there any chances this happens in nearest future?
3) may be, there are other ways to get ATI Mach64 DRI working (i.e. not
upgrading X?)
I know from Gareth Hughes's (the guy who is developing this driver) mail on
DRI-devel that he finally managed to get MACH64 DRI working.
But, I have no idea *when* and *how* DRI support is moving into XFree.
Mandrake was always very fast preparing new packages, may be that guy will
stop on Mandrake (not SuSE, Caldera) finally in his searching for nice
distribution?
I am also running Mach64 on notebook, so for sure I am also interested to get
this working.
May be, somebody already has LM 7.2 binary RPMs with DRI support working for
ATI Mach64? Or SRPMs ? (Then I can build for this guy and myself, and any
other people interested )
Many thanks in advance!

I was trying to persuade Suse, the distro I am using at the moment, to pack
this driver in their distro since it would be a very interesting thing for
all Laptop users (and the ones who want to use Linux on a laptop and don4t
know which Notebook to buy, yet. Sadly, the rage pro is the only 3D-accel
capable chipset for Notebooks that you can buy.)
Anyway, Suse basically told me to p*ss off, so I asked Caldera who have been
more friendly, but also gave me a negative answer.
BTW the figures for gears look pretty good actually, Even though the card is
not fast enough for the newest of the newest games I still can use it for
demos, molecular modelling etc.
