Well, it happens to me as well.
I have an A4Tech 4D mouse (yes it's a "wheel-mouse"),
that speaks the IMPS/2 protocoll to the X server.
It's really jumpy for some time, but if you move it carefully
for a short period and then use the wheel, all returns to normal....
