Okay, we've all heard about the binary incompatibilities in gcc 2.96 and
that glibc has been updated as well.  Now in theory the updated
compatibility libraries should allow me to use most of my existing C apps
without a hitch, but am I going to have to recompile all of my C++ apps due
to the incompatibility?  This is a daunting prospect on my test machine
where some of these apps can take upwards of four hours to compile....
