Hi
I started to think about your remark.
When I for the first time did compile a kernel or should I say tried to
do it, I read a lot. This was for RedHat 4.2. One thing I remember was
that Linus adviced that I should not compile in things in the kernel
that was not to be used. It was a large possibility that loose ends or
requests could be hanging around and disturb the kernel.
Here is then my thinking: If during installation an error is reported
does that not imply that something is at loose and ought to be removed.
