Hello.
I really like linux. And I really love Mandrake and its way to work!
I guess 7.3 will be really special, for I'll see kernel 2.4.x, kde2.1, gnome
with nautilus, all of the tipical & untipical servers, clients. The new gimp.
Cups... it's really special.
Lately I bought a dual-processor system (2x800 MHz Pentium III), and I find
that it's very fast to compile from SRPM.
Now the question: could I take a real advantage to compile for i686 instead
i586? Will it really gain something like 10-30% or just 1-2% over i586?
If you think that it has a sense, as cooker will get in a state of "freezing"
I could begin and compile it for i686... Just let me know if it appears
stupid or significative? In affermative case, maybe I will need some help for
such a work cause I'm really not what you could call a "linux-guru". Then you
could resell that distribution for i686, too ;-)
So please, let's make a great work! :))
Bye, Claudio
PS) Can someone at MandrakeSoft tell me if it's useful that I do it?!?
