Interesting problem with video. Running on a Gateway Solo 9100 with Trident video chip set. If I boot to Windows first, then boot Linux, the video comes up hi-res in the text mode, and X runs fine. If I boot up cold to linux, LILO complains about a bad video mode, and puts up a list of choices - all of which are wrong. Boots by default with text in 80 x 24, and when X comes up, can only see a 1cm stripe on the right side of the screen. Someone mentioned on the list a video mode parameter to add in either LILO or GRUB to force the correct mode every time. Can anyone refresh my feeble memory? .. and shouldn't the installer set this ? V.
