All:
I tried again to install Cooker with a HD install today, after
re-mirroring. With the new kernel packages at least I got the system
installed, booting, and running. There were some issues while installing
the system. Does it make sense to send the report.bug file to Mandrake
or is it premature as the system is not really "complete" yet?
Among other things, creating a boot floppy didn't work, setting the
printer crashed the install, etc. Without selecting the printer however
the install completed with only a few errors for defective packages. I
also tried a net install on my 5 year old son's computer with a Linksys
LNE100TX Ver. 4.1 card ($15 from Best Buy), but selecting the tulip
driver did not work. With Mandrake 7.2 and the tulip driver the card
works flawlessly. I am asking myself whether in the net install the
tulip driver is an older version, as in Mandrake 7.2 there are two
drivers "tulip" and "old_tulip". Let me know if you need more
information if you want to fix this issue.
