Hello,

Used the PCMCIA image to ftp install off sunsite.uio.no this
weekend. Some observations:

I know that Windows like to show pretty pictures while it's
being installed, but can we still have the info as to what packages
are being installed and such? I think this info is important, and
I find it useful to be able to see what's going on during install.
There's room on the screen - can we do both?

Also, what's with the trucks? Building Mandrake's new
headquarters? ;-)

In lo-res VGA the pics are terrible. Very pixelated.

OK, so I got the system to load. Is qt-Xt REQUIRED for the
font rendering to work? It's hidden in one of the development
sections of package selection and defaults to NOT being selected.
The first install I did had the old choppy font stuff, because I
missed this (at least I THINK that's what happened)

So.. I loaded everything Konqueror's new info screen and stuff
looks good. Then I reloaded the system, and it was gone!

STILL no idea why I can't get sound to work with the current
version of cooker.

Can't install CUPS printing - when selecting the CUPS
printing system, gets a message "can't connect to CUPS server".
Since the CUPS server hasn't been installed yet, would be hard
to connect to it, no?

The new grouping of packages looks good - but some lines
if you want to select everything in that group, gives a message
"can't select/deselect this item" or something like that. Why?

Tried loading again Sunday - got all the packages loaded,
then the install bombed with "ldconfig failed".

Will try it again later in the week.

        V.
