My maestro3 soundcard wasn't recognized/configured on my Dell Inspiron Laptop

I don't know what info you need to get it to detect/config, it needs alsa
drivers though:

here's from lspci:
02:03.0 Multimedia audio controller: ESS Technology ES1983S Maestro-3i PCI
Audio Accelerator (rev 10)

/proc/pci
Bus 2, device 3, function 0:
Multimedia audio controller: ESS Technology ES1983S Maestro-3i PCI Audio
Accelerator (rev 16).
      IRQ 5.
      Master Capable. Latency=32. Min Gnt=2.Max Lat=24.
      I/O at 0xdc00 [0xdcff].
      Non-prefetchable 32 bit memory at 0xf6ffe000 [0xf6ffffff].

the modules I use to get it to work:

alias char-major-116 snd
options snd snd_major=116 snd_cards_limit=1
alias snd-card-0 snd-card-maestro3
options snd-card-maestro3 snd_index=0 snd_id="Maestro3"

alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
alias sound-service-0-0 snd-mixer-oss
alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss
