Actually, the boot logo also appears from the hard disk if you run in framebuffer mode. (You can select it on the drakboot --expert screen. The kernel version also does nto matter as both 2.2 and 2.4 have fb support. The difference with the LPP is that it would be fullscreen depending on your resolution instead of the small on there is now.
