What exactly is kapm-idled (Process ID = 3) and why does
it take 60-90% of my CPU (as reported by top).  I assume
it is not a normal daemon, since I can't find a startup
script or a binary for it.

I'd be happy to help debug the issue, if:

1) it's not just me
2) I had a place to start
