Hi, all!
I wanted to install cooker usind the network disk image. Hardware specs:
- Pentium I 133
- 32 MB RAM
- 4 GB SCSI @ DawiControl 2974 SCSI controller
- 2x80 GB IDE Disks @ Promise UDMA 100 controller
- VIA Technologies VT82C100A NIC (eth0)
- Realtek RTL-8029(AS) NIC (eth1)
- "Stone-Age" ISA ET4000 graphics card
Install is titled "8.0beta Feb 27 2001 21:32:57"
I've choosen install from NFS server, as the other options require much more
ram :] IP is assigned automatically with DHCP. The computer that I wish to
install to is connected via the VIA NIC to my network.
After I selected "NFS server", install shows me the NICs it found. It tries
to load the ne2k-pci driver for the RTL NIC, but fails like so:
<4>ne2k-pci.c PCI NE2000 clone 'RealTek RTL-8029' at I/O 0x6400, IRQ 10.
<3>ne2k-pci: Probe of PCI card at 0x6400 failed.
<5>ne2k-pci.c: No useable cards found, driver NOT installed.
Okay, I can live with that the ne2k-pci cannot be used, at least for
installation.
It then goes on, asking for "Static" or "DHCP". I chose "DHCP" and it gets
the IP adress for eth0 just fine.
Next it asks for the NFS server name and the Linux-Mandrake directory. I
enter:
172.17.2.1
/http/cooker
Now it crashes. Ie. it displays on the ¹st console:
perl: error while loading shared libraries: libperl.so: cannot load shared
object file: No such file or directory
install exited abnormally :-(
sending termination signals...done
sending kill signals...done
unmounting filesystems...
/proc
/tmp/image
you may safely reboot your system
On the 3rd console I see:
* mounting 172.17.2.1:/http/cooker on /tmp/image as type nfs
* have to insmod nfs
* needs sunrpc
* needs lockd
* needs nfs
* succeeded nfs
* preparing nfsmount for 172.17.2.1:/http/cooker
* found the Linux-Mandrake Installation, good news!
* stage1: disconnecting life support system
Console 4 shows:
<4>nfs warning: mount version older than kernel
Anything else you need to know?
