Well, I just synced via rsync :
 # cat cooker/VERSION
Linux-Mandrake Cooker-i586 20010305  3:15

 and it worked !!!  Thanks !

 well, I had to try to mount it several times, since I got RPC
timeout. That may had been related to the number of NFS timeouts I got
afterwards.

  Anyway, PCMCIA appears now OK.
