Hi.
I've did a rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.2-16mdk.i586.rpm, and that's the message I've
got:
[root@teich /RPMS-COOKER]# rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.2-16mdk.i586.rpm
kernel ##################################################
Can't convert grub_partition
What does this mean?
And finally it created a /boot/initrd.img and /boot/initrd-2.4.2-16mdk.img
again.
But for some reason, it totally wiped /boot/grub/menu.lst! All it contains
now, is:
timeout 5
color black/cyan yellow/cyan
Why is there no backup file being generated when it modifies such a vital
boot file?
Further, also my device.map file is now totally useless:
(fd0) /dev/fd0
(fd1) /dev/fd1
a) I do not have two floppy drives
b) My SCSI drives are missing from the list
c) Again: Why no backup file?
Are there any other files that are screwed up by installing the kernel rpm?
