Previously I mentioned I was having problems with some of the drak
tools.

Turns out the reason the graphic configuration wasn't coming up was
it was trying to install the xfree86-3.3.6 rpms, but urpmi doesn't
work
on my machine. I installed them manually and now the graphic
configuration works.

Urpmi (1.5-21mdk) still does not work. I've tried rebuilding the rpm
database, creating new urpmi databases, reinstalling the rpms but
still I get the following each time I try to urpmi something:
urpmi xtraceroute
To satisfy dependencies, the following packages are going to be
installed (1 MB):
xtraceroute-0.8.14-20mdk traceroute-1.4a5-14mdk
Is it ok? (Y/n)
malformed input: [/Mandrake/RPMS/traceroute-1.4a5-14mdk.i586.rpm]
malformed input:
[/Mandrake/RPMS/xtraceroute-0.8.14-20mdk.i586.rpm]

is there anyway of starting the urpmi tools from scratch again? I'll
try
removing all the rpms and reinstalling it if you think it will help.

Presumably this is also why rpmdrake (1.3-17mdk) segfaults each
time I start it? I haven't yet seen rpmdrake working on 8cooker.

Boot Config now fails to come up at all:
EMBED

The last message occurs with all the tools:
Use of uninitialized value in subroutine entry at
/usr/X11R6/bin/DrakConf.real line 192, <VERS> line 1.

Configuring the display settings resets the mouse settings even if
you don't click on the mouse settings tab

Configure LAN in configure network gave me a blank page with the
following error:
gtkcreate_png: missing png file eth_card_mini.png at
/usr/lib/libDrakX/my_gtk.pm line 318.

Configure boot disk gave me:
Name "main::fixed_font" used only once: possible typo at
/usr/X11R6/bin/drakfloppy.real line 48.

A reminder that the system and user menu editors dont register as
having started in DrakConf so it thinks they have crashed

I don't think these are the result of running a mixed pre 8 and 8
system as I did a full upgrade and have upgraded RPMS as they have
arrived without forcing any installs (of course I realise this is not
the
same as doing a clean install and it may be my fault).

Con.
