Youch!

While copying the latest RPMS from cooker the machine hung. And I mean
really hung - raw key input was the only way to reboot. Since then I
have had strange responses from the RPMS directory. The partition is
reiserfs with notail and the first time I access the directory with ls
I get:

is_tree_node: node level 50293 does not match the expected one 1
vs-5150: search_by_key: invalid format found in block 558586: Fsck?
vs-13070: reiserfs_read_inode2: i/o failure occured trying to find
stat data of [6615 21746 0x0 SD]

and so on...

then when I try to read the directory again it starts off:

ls:
/home/downloads/cooker/Mandrake/RPMS/locales-pp-2.3.1-7mdk.noarch.rpm:
Permission denied
ls:
/home/downloads/cooker/Mandrake/RPMS/locales-pd-2.3.1-7mdk.noarch.rpm:
Permission denied
ls:
/home/downloads/cooker/Mandrake/RPMS/locales-ms-2.3.1-7mdk.noarch.rpm:
Permission denied
ls:
/home/downloads/cooker/Mandrake/RPMS/svgalib-1.4.3-0.pre.20001010.1mdk
.i586.rpm: Permission denied
ls:
/home/downloads/cooker/Mandrake/RPMS/locales-lt-2.3.1-7mdk.noarch.rpm:
Permission denied

and so on.. and then it reads the rest of the directory. I cannot
access the files or delete them.
reiserfsck segfaults after numerous corrections trying to correct this
partition!

Running latest cooker (one day old) with kernel2.4.2-18mdk
Perhaps it's related to me adding notail to this partition? Perhaps
this is the file system corruption mentioned in kernel traffic?

Any suggestions? This is rather scary.
